Book Review : Konserto Terakhir by Abdullah Hussain

I seldom read Malay novels. Moreover now days a lot of best selling novels being made movies. The thing is, novel and movie have different approach. It will depend on the creativity of the person involved. These people want to show their own individual identity. Now if I read a novel, I prefer not to watch the movie. It will ruin my mental picture about the whole story and vice-versa.

I love good Malay novels which consist words some of them not known by me. And I can feel the beauty of Malay language when I read the whole constructed sentences.

It is a beautiful story about a village man in Kedah who want to find new life in big city, Kuala Lumpur. Just like the rest of other novels, the man is uneducated and poor, went to the big city of Kuala Lumpur, find his relative who is successful, rich, arrogant and with title. The rest of the plot until at the end of it, usually well verse by all Malay movie audiences. The poor man become popular and successful and his relative regretted his action toward the poor man.

And moral of the story are :-

1. Honest is the best way of living. Never say bad things about others. Nobody perfect, anyway.

2. Pray  Pray  Pray especially when you facing tough challenges. God not only with us along the way, giving His strength, He will direct us to the right path and the right people ( family members, relatives or strangers) who will sincerely help us.

3. Knowledge is POWER

4. Never give up.

I hate sad ending by the way. I know it's part of our life. I dislike it anyway. It make me think about it regularly. Some how it did effect me emotionally. I don't know if other people feel the same but it did to me.
